Holocaust Survivors Living Alone Have Credit Card on Their Side

Thousands of Holocaust survivors in the United States live alone, often at or near poverty. Since 1939, many of them have turned to The Blue Card for help. With the launch today of The Blue Card Visa affinity credit card, anyone can help The Blue Card provide personal emergency response systems (PERSYS) for Holocaust survivors living alone.

The Blue Card Visa affinity credit card goes live today at www.cardpartner.com/app/blue-card. The Blue Card organization earns $50 for each activated card. Then once each quarter for the life of the card, the organization earns a share of the monthly charge volume. By using the card for everyday spending, cardholders help The Blue Card purchase PERSYS units for Holocaust survivors. A PERSYS is an electronic device that summons help in an emergency situation.

“Many Holocaust survivors live alone and have no one who can come to their rescue in an emergency situation. With money raised by cardholders activating and using The Blue Card Visa affinity credit card, The Blue Card can meet the needs of more survivors and ensure that their dignity is preserved,” said Elie Rubinstein, Executive Director of The Blue Card.

The Blue Card offers The Blue Card Visa affinity credit card in cooperation with CardPartner (www.cardpartner.com), a New York-based company that helps non-profits of all sizes establish the kinds of affinity credit card programs once reserved for large groups. CardPartner operates in the virtual environment, strips out costs by offering free, customized self-service marketing tools, and works with groups like The Blue Card on a human scale not often seen in the credit card industry.

“CardPartner clients love how quickly their programs get started, the fact that they control the marketing, and that proceeds help fund their operations and not someone else’s overhead,” says Mark Levitt, CardPartner senior creative director.
