AIPAC Wants War With Iran. Americans Don’t!

High  Time to drive these BEASTS to Oblivion

President Obama and Israeli PM Netanyahu will be meeting in the next month during a historic trip by the President to the West Bank and Jordan. Reports indicate that the world leaders will be using this opportunity to discuss a military strike on Iran. Meanwhile, the strongest Israel lobby in the US, AIPAC, will take thousands of its members to Congress to push a resolution saying that the US will militarily support an Israeli strike on Iran. Outraged that your tax dollars may soon be funding yet another indiscriminate invasion? Urge Obama to distance himself from AIPAC, a dangerous lobby that lobbies for $3 billion annually of our taxpayer money to subsidize the powerful Israeli military and its illegal operations and occupations. Tell Obama that you do not support a US joint venture with Israel to bomb Iran and that you do not support AIPAC’s sponsorship of illegal occupation! Help us get to our goal of 5,000 petitions to deliver to the White House.

Dear President Obama,

I was saddened to learn that in your upcoming visit to the West Bank and Jordan, you will be meeting with PM Benyamin Netanyahu to discuss a possible strike on Iran. I also understand that the powerful lobby AIPAC is pushing Congress to pass a resolution saying that the US will militarily support an Israeli strike on Iran. Allowing Israel and AIPAC to drag us into a war with Iran would be disastrous for the Middle East, and for us here in the United States.

AIPAC has spread confusion and lies about the conflict in Palestine and Israel, and strong-armed Congress to sign its legislation and fund Israeli war crimes. AIPAC demands unquestioning support of Israel, which severely undermines American legitimacy in the region.

We must not let AIPAC push us into yet another invasion-- this time into Iran. AIPAC pushed our government into the catastrophic war in Iraq by exaggerating Saddam Hussein’s threat and lying about weapons of mass destruction. Now they are repeating history, with AIPAC lobbyists vastly exaggerating Iran’s nuclear threat and eschewing negotiations. AIPAC continues to lobby for policies that prohibit a just peace for Israelis and Palestinians and support violations of international law. AIPAC’s views do not represent the values and interests of the majority of the American people who voted for you, who pay the taxes that fund our government, and whose family members serve in the U.S. military. The majority of Americans do not want another war in the Middle East and the US can't afford a war during the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression. The Iraq war left thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis dead. We implore you not to repeat this tragic mistake. Say no to AIPAC, no to war with Iran and yes to diplomacy.

Additionally, our government should be supporting the spread of democracy in the Middle East, bringing our tax dollars home instead of giving Israel $3 billion a year, and distancing ourselves from human rights abuses wherever they occur, including Israel. It is time for a foreign policy that serves the American people, not a foreign lobby group like AIPAC.

Sincerely,
