Israel launches command center to fight cyberattacks

Israel has launched a new defense center termed a “nerve center for defense” that will focus solely on heading off cyberattacks.

“Few countries have this kind of ability,” one Israeli defense official said, in a report from United Press International. “This is a part of the Israel Defense Force’s readiness to ensure continuity of conventional operations. This continuity is based on cyber-security.”

The center will be manned around-the-clock by 20 Israeli soldiers, UPI reports.

It will link into information from the Israeli Tehila system — the Government Infrastructure in the Internet Era — and from the Israel Security Agency’s Information Security Authority that oversees the nation’s energy infrastructure, UPI reported.
