Another Jewish Pervert Gets 14 Years For Sexually Abusing Girl For 6 Years

Eliyahu Zarifa, a 46-year-old Monsey haredi resident of Monsey, New York dubbed a “mystery man” by local press, was sentenced yesterday to 14 years in state prison for sexually abusing a girl for six years, beginning when she was 10-years-old.

Zarifa reportedly fled to Israel when the victim, who is now 17-years-old, was about to report Zarifa to police. However, he returned to the United States not long after and was arrested.

In August, Zarifa pleaded guilty to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a Class B felony that carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison.

“The courage and poise displayed by the victim when she first came forward and during sentencing was undeniable. The lengthy sentence meted out by the court is more than warranted,” Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Zugibe told the Journal News.

Zarifa will have to serve 10 years’ probation when he is released from prison and will also have to register as a sex offender with New York State.

In a related case, Zarifa was charged in June with third-degree grand larceny, which is a Class D felony. He allegedly stole $4,000 in Medicaid benefits between March 2011 and February 2012 and could be sentenced to up to seven years in state prison if convicted.

That case has not yet been adjudicated.
