Orthodox London rabbi reportedly told to leave town by

An Orthodox rabbi in London has reportedly been told to leave town by another rabbi after allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards a woman.

Rumours of a burgeoning scandal have gathered force over the past few days with a number of calls to the JC from members of the Orthodox community who want to see it investigated by the relevant rabbinic authority.

One caller claimed that the rabbi at the centre of the allegations was accosted at home over Succot by another rabbi who called on him to go. A number of rabbis and heads of Orthodox organisations remained tight-lipped when contacted by the JC this week, declining to say whether there was any substance to the rumours.

But a figure understood to be close to the rabbi was heard to dismiss the allegations this week.
